In chapter two, I draw on semi-structured interviews of Northern California residents to explore how social processes and perceptions of wildfire smoke threat and efficacy shape pathways to protective health decision-making. Because I could understand the connection between development, timber harvesting, and increased greenhouse gas emissions, I was better able to communicate those connections to judges who were not otherwise educated about the causes of climate change. My research interests are in international marine conservation ecology/policy.
